We have one of the largest free-range Large Black herds in the country. The Large Black is a traditional breed, that dwindled as farmers began farming more intensively and opted for faster growing commercial pigs. Today the Large Black is considered a rare breed, slow growing, it has a depth of flavour that's worth waiting for. Our herd are outside for 9 months of the year, rooting and mud bathing and feeding on our orchard apples. In the winter months we bring them inside to live in heated barns.
